Well, it is Sunday again and I am off driving to my favorite haunts.

Driving on a Sunday

Driving on a Sunday

I just never tire of going to see the ladies of Maxwell Dog.
I always walkout with a bag of goodies.
This time I got a new baby. A holiday gingerbread baby.

Holidays are always fun for finding new babies.
This year I chose a Gingerbread Baby. Almost good enough to eat.

We also got to stop by my California favorite fast food joint.
In-n-Out Burger

In-N-Out Drive Thru

Going to In-N-Out is a treat for me.
They even have a puppy friendly item on the menu.
It is a “patty with no salt” I just love those.

My drive thru Bag

We don’t go too often but when we do…yum yum.
It is the best holiday drive thru in Studio City.

Well it was another beautiful Sunday in California.

Begging for Attention

begging, puppy dog eyes, [aw shake

We all beg from time to time, for a cookie, a pat on the head
or just plain old fashioned belly rubbing attention.
There is an art to it you know. I have many techniques.
Plus it helps if your people are softies like mine.

First step is to make sure you are not annoying but endearing to your people.
This is very important or you might be banished from the table or treats
so remember to keep the begging to a minimum. Less is more, more or less.

1. Use your best sorrowful eyes. The eyes are the windows to your peoples souls.
Mine melt at the puppy dog eyes treatment. I practice this look quite often.

2. Smack your lips a bit to show just how mouthwatering
that treat or affection is to you.
This should do the trick.

4. If not. Pull out one of your best tricks.
The rollover, the paw shake or the doggie two legged dance.

Remember the most important part of begging is
to reward your people with that charming smile
at the end to let them know that you are pleased
with the trick they performed for you.

I am an expert at picking out wonderful babies to play with.
This is a partial  baby collection. I hide some of them from
my people, only bringing them out for special occasions.
My best baby is Night Night Baby who I hide because
sometimes my people throw him in the washing machine!
(It takes me hours to get him back into shape and smelling right.)

Lucy and her Babies

The Criteria for choosing a good baby is as follows:

  • A baby must have a talent.
    • Some rattle.
(I have a green turtle who has different pitched rattles in his four legs)
    • Some squeak.
(I have a wide variety of these from a purple heart to a blue monster)
    • Some have a language all their own.
(I have a porcupine that makes a chattering sound,
a fish that makes bubbles and two totem poles
that sing Uggah Buggah Buggah HA HA HA)
    • And some Talk.
(Ohhh Nooo Mr Bill! This one makes my people laugh so hard, they imitate him when I play with him)
  • A baby must look good in your bed.
    • Color is everything.
(I like the bright ones, electric blue, hot pink.)
  • A baby must be enticing to your people.
    • A good game of chase only works
when you have a baby your people want.
(they never tire of this game)

Color coordinate your Babies to your bed

Color coordinate your Babies to your bed

And on some occasions your people bribe you with a baby.
Like the time my people went on a trip to NYC and brought me back
a Trump baby. They thought this would make up for placing me in the
Pet Hotel but my baby gave me a word of advice-
      I told them “YOU’RE FIRED!”
(well I didn’t really fire them, I was just upset for a little bit)

So Pick your babies with care and remember to treat them with
      slobbering respect.

Butterball, Sleeping dog, Thanksgiving, Turkeyday

I could hardly sleep last night.
My mind was on this holiday my people call
Thanksgiving. Finally we are going to celebrate it,
I know this because last night my people came
home with more grocery bags than I have ever seen.

Sleeping Beauty

The night before Turkeyday

Thank goodness my people finally remodeled the kitchen.
It is about time they had a working stove to cook for me.

I was in charge of supervising the prep work.

And I of course was the grand taster.
You can never let your people eat something you
haven’t approved for human consumption.

It is a hard life taking care of my people, and I know
this year they really appreciate my skill sets.

Bil•Jac treats, Boulevard Pet Clinic, Dr David Schwartz, GOOBERLICIOUS, Maxwell Dog, Studio City, Ventura Boulevard, Vitello's Restaurant

First we stopped by the vets: Dr. David Schwartz of Boulevard Pet Clinic.
He has been my vet since I was a puppy so I have known him for 11 years!
He wanted to take precaution and give me some pills just in case
I needed some extras. I was happy not to get a shot.

My visit to the vet

No pain with Dr. Schwartz, but a lot of happiness to gain.

Then we were off to my favorite haunt Maxwell Dog:
a dog’s favorite pet store in Studio City.

Maxwell Dogs

My favorite Pet boutique and goodies store

This is definitely the place for the in crowd of K9s.
They have everything you could want from fashion to treats.
The treat cookie case is my fav as you can see below they
have a large selection. Woof what a case!

The Best doggie Cookies are at Maxwell Dogs in Studio City

After Maxwell Dogs it was off to feed the people.
We love going to Vitello’s Restaurant in Studio City.
A very pet friendly place. They serve fresh water
and are always happy to see me.

Vitello's Restaurant Studio City

Vitello's Restaurant Studio City

It was a great meal for my people and they made sure to have
some snacks on hand for me to eat too. My people used to order
the Robert Blake meal but for some reason they took that off the menu.
People are so crazy about the headlines in the news.

Well, I am patient most of the time while waiting for a treat
at the restaurant but sometimes you just have to make your presence
really known. I love pizza but goober peanut butter treats by Bil•Jac are
gooberlicious too.

Then it was homeward bound. And as soon as we got home
I checked my purchases to make sure everything was there.

Ahhh yes, the love I have for Maxwell Dog’s bag of goodies.
Now that is what I call a GREAT SUNDAY.

400-thread count, dog day, Sunday, waking up

Sunday is my day. Both of my people are home on Sundays and know this is MY DAY, MY RULES and MY TIME!

We usually go directly to my favorite stomping grounds … the pet store. But this morning we have to change up the agenda and stop by the vet. ARGH! Just because one of my people thinks I might have a little parasite on board. They worry too much but I am willing to put up with it as long as we follow my agenda for the rest of the day.

Here I am waking up on the people pillows. Why should I use my dog bed when there are 400-thread count pillows to be had. (really, do they think I can’t tell the difference?)

Waking up on a Sunday

So forgive me but I must get ready for a day of LUCY RULES> More on that later. Woof.

My people love to dress me up.

Pet hoodie

Lucy's fashion forward Car attire

This little number was custom made for me by Monarchy. It is a lovely hoodie my people acquired for me at a dog charity event. I give it 4 PAWS in my fashionable opinion. Unfortunately my people have not let me drive the sports car yet, but I am hopeful. I guess my people feel I deserve to be chauffeured about town which actually suits me just fine.

I like the attention I get on the runway of life here in Hollywood but think my natural coat is my best suit. What do you think?

Woof or rather Hello world!

Hi welcome to my  aDOGtales blog.
the warrior puppy

Lucy “a dogs tales” author ©annettesteiner.com

My name is Lucy I am what my people call “a rescue” but I think they are a bit confused. They are actually the rescues. I saved my people Annette and Elaine from a boring human existence.

Prior to my entrance in their life they did the normal Hollywood scene, now they have much more refined tastes.

We walk in the beautiful Lake Hollywood Park at 3160 Canyon Dr just under the Hollywood sign in the Griffith Park area. My people like looking up at the house Madonna used to own but I am constantly trying to show them the more important things in life such as the smell of freshly cut grass, the warmth of the sun on your fur and the happiness of wagging your tail at friends and family.
