It has come to my attentions that people need help when purchasing treats for their pets.

Since most people never test their dogs treats I Wanted to share my thoughts. I have a discriminating pallet when it comes to treats so here is my list of recommendations when picking out treats for any of your four legged friends.

My people have wasted many a dollar on premium treats just to toss them away in the trash when I snub my nose at them.

Here are my recommendations:
ZiwiPeak Treats: I LOVE THESE!!!!! And my people are happy about that. They are premium real-meat jerky rewards that have none of the nasty filler ingredients in them. These treats are tail wagging yummies. They are from New Zealand and come in three flavors: beef, lamb and venison. I like all three, but do my best tricks for the lamb treats. You can find them at premium pet stores or order them on line here: http://www.ziwipeak.com Did I mention I LOVE LOVE LOVE these treats.

Buddy Biscuits by Cloud Star. These are tasty and I quite like them. I prefer the soft & chewy ones myself as I am a petite dog but they come in hard chews for your larger teeth breeds. I have tasted them all: the Grain FREE types: Slow Roasted Beef, Smooth Aged Cheddar, Rotisserie Chicken, and Homestyle Peanut Butter. As well as the original buddies: Bacon & Cheese, Beef, Chicken, Duck, Lamb, Peanut Butter, and Sweet Potato.

I like to have a variety on hand as i sometimes can get tired of the same old treat every day. My people prefer i eat the grain free type but do allow me to eat the other kinds to keep my tastebuds happy. Now these are easier to locate, you can get these at most Pet Stores, Zoom Rooms or if you have a brick and mortar fear you can order them online at http://www.cloudstar.com

Whole Life Dog Treats. The people who make these treats love animals and you can read all about them at their website: http://www.wholelifepet.com I have only tested the pure freeze dried cheddar cheese myself and can tell you that it is very nice as a little sprinkle on my dry dog food. You can research where to find them in your area on their website.

Halo LIV-A-LITTLES CHICKEN. OMG…happy wag. Yes there are many brands out there that have freeze dried chicken but this brand seems to soak up the water the best. I go nuts when my people put a few of these in water… My mouth waters in anticipation, my tail uncontrollably spins as if it will become a propeller to take me off the floor and soar through the room. You must make your people soak a few for you to try. Here is the website: http://shop.halopets.com/Natural-Treats/Liv-a-Littles-Chicken

Now I will tell you all that the best treats sometimes are made in your own kitchen. And here is my very favorite dog cookie recipe. Watch out because some people might steal one or two of these cookies…remind the that you are the treat taster and they have their own goodies.

Good Girl Sadie Treats
1 to 1-½ cups flour
¾ cup oatmeal
¼ cup wheat germ
¼ cup crunchy peanut butter
¼ cup vegetable oil
¼ cup honey
1 tsp baking powder
½ cup water

Preheat the oven to 325° F. It is best to have a two legger do this.

Combine all ingredients and mix on low until completely blended.

Form into tablespoon-sized balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten balls to ¼”” using the tines of fork. Or for fun you can have your people make them in the shape of a dog bone. Here is a cookie cutter if you want to try making them into little bones. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4022355

Bake for 15 – 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Then here is the best part woof one down with your best two legger pal.
