sadies-pbnpupcream

I am working on my PupScout Ice Cream Badge and have a recipe to share with everyone. Now this recipe is not for the faint of stomach, there is a waiting period for eating this wonderful PupCream.

1. Pick out some nice ripe B.A.N.A.N.A.S! 3 to be exact.

2. Peel them naked.

(you might need your paw-rents help here)

HERE IS THE HARD PART…PUT THEM ON ICE AND FREEZE OVERNIGHT-NIGHT.

NITE, NITE BANANAS… see you in 24 hours!

3. Blend Bananas in

the food processor

3. Add in 1 Tablespoon of creamy peanut butter

SERVE IMMEDIATELY or place in a container and freeze for a firmer treat. I eat mine rignt away! No time like the present to give yourself a tasty treat. If you like, you can add in strawberries or blueberriess too! I like mine classic.

YUM YUM YUM

now that’s one tasty PUPCREAM

ENJOY!!!
PS
the two-leggers like this mixture too,
so make sure to finish your bowl or they may eat it!
love ya  Miss Sadie

Futuristic night cityscape view. Hong Kong

Sadie Miki the wonder dog helping Batman save the city … R is now for Rover 🙂

We four-legged are all superheroes of one sort or another. Just look at the reality of it… we possess extraordinary talents. My supernatural phenomena is being able to eat a treat in one mouthful. Think about the symbolic moral goal of it… I am protecting the public both two-legged and four-legged of forbidden calories.  With one whoosh of my mouth the calories are defeated and can no longer hurt others. And you guessed it my mask is that I am not really a “dog” I am a four-legged wonder called Sadie. Now go forth and save human kind by joining me in gobbling up all the treats you can find!

Until our next adventure! Stay tuned.

SADIE_BALL_BONES
WOOF, there are not many things that will make me drop the ball…
but this recipe is an exception.

INGREDIENTS

2 eggs (we use the brown shelled ones but don’t use the shells!)

1/2 cup canned organic pumpkin

2 tablespoons dry milk (great for putting protein into your dog’s diet)

1/4 teaspoon sea salt (sea salt is good for pets with pet arthritis)

2 1/2 cups brown rice flour (traditional flours don’t provide good nutrition for dogs)

1/2 teaspoon honey (optional, it is just a taste that Sadie likes and your pup might like too)

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Blend together; eggs with pumpkin and honey together
  • Add in sea salt, dry milk, and flour.
  • Add water as needed to make the dough workable be careful not to make soggy.
  • The dough should be dry and stiff. (crunchy and good for teeth brushing)
  • Mix this with your hands because it  might burn out your electric mixer’s motor.
  • Roll to 1/2-inch thick.
  • Cut into shapes, most people shape like dog bones but you can add some fun to your pup’s life by making fun shapes like hearts for valentine’s day or bat for howl-O-ween. We like this website for buying cookie cutters: TheCoookieCutterShop
  • Place 1″ to 1”1/2  apart on an un-greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 20 minutes on one side, then flip and bake another 20 minutes.

HAPPY CRUNCHING!

I love it when my people get excited about a day like Halloween, which when pronounced correctly in dog speak is HOWL-o-ween! They buy candy that I can’t have but include me by making dog friendly bits that are special HOWL-fully goodies that I can have. This makes me feel included and not like Charlie Brown who was always getting “rocks”. Of course I have been known to pick up a rock or two when my people aren’t looking.

I suggest you send your favorite four-legged fur pal a Halloween Card. I love to get mail, sometimes I steal my people’s mail so getting a card from the great pumpkin is a special event. This card is an edible, natural rawhide.
Bonecard

Last year I dressed up as a candy corn skeleton, but this year I am taking the advise of one of my ZoomRoom trainers and going as a dust bunny so that all I need to put on is my lovely locks and lay on the floor helping my people clean!

Here are some treats you can make for your treat bag:

Howl-o-ween Pumpkin Oatmeal Spice Dog Bones
(makes about 20 cookies)
Ingredients:
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 cup water
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup oatmeal
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
Directions:
1. Heat up the oven to 375 degrees (let your two-leggers do this)
2. Combine pumpkin, oil, water, and cinnamon in a large bowl, stir well. (I always ask to lick the spoon)
3. Gradually mix in the oatmeal and flour (if you are sensitive to flour you can substitute with Almond flour which is a naturally grain-free Paleo-friendly flour) to form the stiff cookie dough.
4. Roll dough out in 1/4″ thickness and cut with your favorite cookie cutter on a floured surface.
5. Bake on a non-stick cookie sheet for 30-40 minutes.

Have a Happy CHEW on this Howl-o-Ween!

BARK_bday_sadie
Another year has come and past and I am happy to report I am still top dog of my household. I have requested my two-leggers let me help them bake. We looked online and I picked out this Red Velvet Wheat-free Cake mix that comes with a bone shaped tin!

I also wanted a candle to blow out. I will not be doing the blowing, as I do not wish to singe my lovely locks but I wanted my candle to be special so we bought these:

dogcandles

None of the doggie candles look like me but I think they are fun.

The day is going to be a Sadie Celebration, my people are not certain of my actual birthday so they picked this one special for me. I of course believe that every day is a Sadie Birthday because everyday is a present I can’t wait to open up. You never know what surprises you might find like a trip to the zoomroom to run, jump and play, a new collar  or finding a toy that has been hiding from you under the sofa. Life is one big present to celebrate with your two-legger by your side.

Here’s wishing everyone a happy everyday! Woof, Sadie

sadieLovesCantaloupeOn a campaign for my two legged friends to eat better I have seen some interesting foods come into the house. This morning I discovered a food group that I hope becomes a staple in this house hold.

It is called the Cantaloupe!

Oh the sweetness, oh the texture, oh my goodness.

Did you know that melons make a tasty and nutritious treat for us four-leggers. There is lots of vitamins C and B-6, plus fiber, folate (a water-soluble B vitamin), niacin (vitamin B3) and potassium.

My people looked it up on the internet and the cantaloupe is good for my eyes because it has a lot of beta-carotene. Studies have shown that beta-carotene can help prevent or reduce the growth of cataracts. But all I know it this new yummy food is a vision of dancing pleasure.

Cantaloupe is also good for us four-leggers because it is a non-allergenic, so most dogs can stomach it with no adverse reaction.

Now I love my cantaloupe naked but the two leggers like to beat it up.

If you like soup you might like the recipe they found on the Food Network by Alex Guarnaschelli, Cantaloupe Soup.

Cantaloupe Smoothie

or this Cantaloupe-Veggie Smoothie

But take it from me the best cantaloupe is naked!

SADIE_COOKS_pupcakes

The kitchen has always fascinated me, it is a magical area in the house. There are large shiny objects in that room that open and often dispense yummy items. Some of them are tall and cool air flows out and others are short and I am told to sit and stay far away from them as they have hot breath when they open up. I think it must be a grumpy monster or something.

We are using both of these magical kitchen instruments today and I must say I am having a hard time waiting.

INGREDIENTS

Pupcakes
½ cup whole wheat flour (substitute if your pup is wheat sensitive)
1 teaspoon baking powder
⅓ cup vegetable oil
⅓ cup unsweetened applesauce
1 egg
2 tablespoons honey

Frosting
3 tablespoons Greek yogurt
1½ tablespoons creamy peanut butter (this is my favorite and I get to like the spoon!)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat (the grumpy monster) oven to 350 F.
  2. Line 6 standard muffin tins or 12 mini muffin tins if you are a petite pup like me with paper liners, or spray with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  3. Whisk together, in a medium bowl, the flour and baking powder. Add the vegetable oil, applesauce, egg and honey, and whisk gently to combine. Divide the batter between the prepared muffin cups and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 10 to 15 minutes. Allow your pupcakes to cool completely before frosting / serving.
  4. To make the frosting, stir together the yogurt and peanut butter, then spread on top of each pupcake just before serving. The pupcakes can be kept for up to 3 days in the refrigerator, that is if you don’t eat them all first!

Enjoy and keep your tail wagging, it makes for a lovely breeze during the summer!

A healthy four-legged diet must contain the proper balance of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water. Which is why my people cook a few meals just for me.

Today we will be sharing one of my favorite recipes as well as a few more fun places your people can eat in the Los Angeles area while enjoying your company too. I just love dog friendly restaurants.

It is almost summer again and the grills are all coming out and that means hamburgers and hot dogs. WARNING… hot dogs are on my DO NOT EAT list because it is a processed meat which contains dangerous fats and nitrites, which have been known to aggravate health problems, such as pancreatitis in dogs. Plus as you know I am the only “hot” dog allowed to be in my two-legger’s life!

Pup-Patties Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup white or brown rice
  • 1 large grated potato
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp sage
  • ½ cup finely chopped up cauliflower
  • 2 large grated carrots
  • 1 large chopped celery stalk
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 3 eggs (never give a dog raw eggs, eggs are potential sources of parasites and bacteria, and should be handled with care)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup regular rolled oats such as Bob’s Red Mill Organic Old Fashioned Rolled Oats

Directions:

  1. Get your barbie on or if you don’t want to grill, just preheat your oven to 400 degrees. On the grill no tins needed if baking, spray a muffin tin.
  2. Steam your rice or cook in small pan on stove. Once cooked, remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a large bowl, combine potato, carrots, celery, cauliflower, ground beef, celery, parsley, sage and eggs. Mix ingredients together, my people like to squish it in their hands.
  4. Add olive oil, rolled oats, and rice, and mix well.
  5. Pat into little pup-patties or fill each muffin cup and pat down firm. Grill til cooked or bake 45 minutes.
  6. Cool on a rack, or remove the meat Pup-Patties from the oven tins by turning the muffin tin upside down over or scooping out with spoon or fork.
  7. 7. You can refrigerate or freeze in these for later in sealed plastic baggies.More Pet friendly Los Angeles

Farmer’s Market French Bistro: Monsieur Marcel

http://www.mrmarcel.com/
hours: Mon-Fri: 11 am – 9 pm, Sat: 10 am – 10 pm, Sun: 10 am – 8 pm
We love the food here but be warned about the service. As with most Hollywood places your waiters are wanna be actors and not always attentive to the details. So speak up when they forget to bring you something you ordered because it won’t show up until you get the bill. Woof!

Oh the horror of it! Something happened this month that made my skin crawl. ANTS ANTS ANTS crawling all over my food. It made my people say nasty words that I have never heard before.

We tried everything to fix the problem. The little invaders that look like aliens were hard to combat; I had fun watching the two-leggers march around with spray bottles of equal parts of Windex and Ivory Soap, laying lines of Borax Soap on the patio, placing yeast and sugar traps beyond my reach but in the reach of the ants. The two-leggers were on a mission to rid us of these invaders from another world. The house was washed down with vinegar and lemon soap. All my food and treats were tossed. It caused me quite a scare.

Thank goodness a solution was found for my precious food and treats. The people ordered some special canisters for me to put my kibble, snacks and dog treats in.
STOPANTS_SADIE

They got these cool canisters from a company called simplehuman. I really like to watch the lids open.

The company also has dog food canisters but for a petite pup like me these kitchen tool canisters worked perfectly. Here’s hoping that your days are all ant-free and fun!
