sadiexmasspirit18 copy.jpgThe holidays are here again and everyone is dashing around trying to grab the newest toy or tech gift for the best price and it is EXHAUSTING. Then you come home and find the real meaning of the holidays. It is in a tail wag or a meow at the door. Every day is a holiday for our four-legged pals. Even if you just go into another room and return there is a flurry of thankfulness that is undeniable.

We all need to learn this wonderful holiday spirit that our animals teach us.

Happy Holidays to everyone.

Love Sadie

PS: my mom just opened an Esty store. We are not asking you to buy anything, just go look and give it a thumbs up if you like it. She is so silly about making projects around the house. http://www.artdavinci.shop/shop

My first Mommy Hair Cut: where’s the bandaids

OK we had our first mommy haircut… Mom has a lot of respect for the groomers after this challenge. IMG_1460.JPG
She tried her best… as you can see my paws and legs are uneven but a good first try. She was unable to get my muzzle area near my eyes done very well as that part scares her.

What we did learn from this experience is that since not going to the groomers my tummy and nose cleared up, I must have been allergic to a product that the groomer was using on me because my nose started to get the dark color back and my tummy got all pink again.

But at one point something horrible happened while we were using the scissors. Mom gave out this big yelp… I thought I had done something wrong. We had to get tons of band-aids… mom had cut her hand instead of my hair… making a smiley face on the outer fleshy part of her left hand. Mom says it wasn’t anything to smile about … we had to glue it back together. I thought maybe that would end mom’s want to give me baths but she seems to be still into baths and beauty treatments.

Have a good day.

sadieearthday18.jpgThe earth is having another birthday and we are ALL invited. This is a wonderful day for many reasons… the Earth is non-judgemental… she likes everyone which is why she lets us all alike come to her birthday party.

The earth gives us so many beautiful gifts every day like flowers, sunshine and even the air we breathe. She is so nice that we need to give something special for her birthday. I will be joining my two-legged companions on a clean-up mission. We will help clean up some of our local shores and promise to always recycle.

What will you be doing to celebrate Mother Earth’s birthday? Remember she loves us all.

SADIESWINGSILENCE18.jpgHi… I am the voice of your pet… I want you to know that I LOVE you, you are my hero every day even when you are sad, in a hurry, leaving to go to work or vacation without me. I LOVE YOU unconditionally. So today and every day please remember this.

Remember to give a little extra love to those who do not speak your language but speak only to you unconditionally in the wag or a tail, or the purr of LOVE.

sadiewindowheart_18.jpgLOVE comes in all sizes, shapes, and forms. But mom says I have something called “Unconditional Love” and that is the best kind of love you can have.

I looked it up and the definition is:
Unconditional love is caring about the happiness of another person without any thought for what we might get for ourselves.

Yes, this totally rings true for me. I Love my people unconditionally. When they leave for just a second… disappearing into another room I am SO HAPPY TO SEE THEM… I wag my tail with such an enthusiasm that my whole body shakes with joy.

I follow them everywhere to make sure they are safe from any predators. Every time they go into the little room called a bathroom I am there to protect them from monsters that may lurk behind the shower curtain or in the mysterious hole called a toilet. (Who knows what is down there!)

My day totally revolves around them and any adventure we might go on.

So remember the next time you see a four-legged creature wagging their tail or purring a song for you that they are giving you the best gift of all called “unconditional love”. We just call it a way of living.

Sadieicanexplainsanta17.jpgAnother year is wrapping up and we are wrapping up all the presents under the tree. Twice this year there has been a lapse in Sadie’s memory about wrapped presents under the tree. In the middle of the night someone, some elf or someone named Sadie has been unwrapping gifts that smell like bones. She claims it is not her but there have been some tell “tail” signs about the house. Bits of soggy paper near her bed, a loss of appetite in the mornings after the treats have been taken by the unknown elf.

If anyone else has this problem with bad elves that eat presents in the middle of the night please let Sadie know as she is trying to convince us that we need to ask Santa to replace the stolen presents under her tree.

Sadie also would like you to know she does have extra holiday cards and would love to send one to you if you send her your address.

Happy Holidays to all and beware of the bad elf.
Love Sadie

If Dogs Ruled: it would be a better place

At Night in the Lantern Garden, 3d CGDogs should rule the world… it would be a better place: our national sport would be fetch and everyone could play no matter how slow, how overweight, or how uncoordinated you are… everyone would win!

There would be no wars or battles over religion or land, just friendly sniffing about and playing in the fields. There would be naps, belly rubs and free kisses for all.

Money would be a common currency of treats and tennis balls.

Size would not matter, BIG and small would be equal.

Life would be a beautiful place, can you hear it…can you speak it?

Woof what a wonderful thought indeed.

sadie_selfie
Art is everywhere… and in today’s world there is a lot of art that is something called a #selfie.

So we decided what if we turned it around and made the art create the selfie. So mom made me into a cartoon that painted a selfie. So which is the art? The cartoon? The selfie or the multimedia image?

So if a selfie is a portrait then it is art right? Ir is it a cultural phenomenon? Or a reflection of the world we are living in…the malleability of our own brand identity? Or are we acting out our own fictional storyline?

What do you think? Is that a smartphone I see in your hand? ART! Or ARF!

This Years Lessons to be Thankful for: Woof

16354504 - christmas home decoration with tree, gifts and fireplace.
As I sit patiently waiting for Santa to come.  Well to really tell the truth I am not a patient dog, I already opened 2 gifts because I COULDN’T WAIT and Santa had left them right in the closet so his sleight was not so heavy when he made his rounds. I just hope that doesn’t make me eligible for that naughty list my mom keeps telling me about.

Anyhow, my lesson learned this year to take with me into the new shiny new year is this:

DROP IT.
LEAVE IT.
LET IT GO.

This may sound like a simple thing to do but it really isn’t.

For me it is about putting something in my mouth that might harm me,
my mom yells out:
DROP IT. DROP IT. DROP IT.

For people it is about forgiving, and moving on from something that might poison their heart and stink up their day/week/year/life unless they just Drop It. Leave It. Let It Go.

As I see it from my “four-legged” perspective it works like this: You see another pretty little dog with a stripe down it’s back… You approach with all good intentions of making a new friendship BUT then they spray you for no reason. OH the STINK! How mean of this new potential friend. You get MAD, you want revenge. You chase that D#MN poo-poo-pet off your property and you denounce any other “black and white” potential pal you see all the while huffing with disgust. For years you hold onto this grudge remembering the  stinking consequences of that nasty meeting. A BATH, and another BATH. Your humans humiliated you by holding their noses and plopping you in the sink time and time again.

You then keep this grudge against all things “black and white” rather than just leaving that anger behind you. You never let it go because of that one encounter. It ruins your days. It ruins anything good and you just can’t move on.

Well, no more, I forgive you mr. skunk. You probably were having a bad day yourself and I am leaving my anger behind me and moving on. I think I might visit to that new dog I saw move in across the way who is “black and white”, the one with the pretty long swishy tail that speaks in “meows”, must be a foreigner.

Yes I am not ever letting the past taint my future again.
Lesson Learned:
DROP IT.
LEAVE IT.
LET IT GO.

Have you learned a good lesson this year to be thankful for?
Love,
Sadie.
