I am working on my PupScout Ice Cream Badge and have a recipe to share with everyone. Now this recipe is not for the faint of stomach, there is a waiting period for eating this wonderful PupCream.

1. Pick out some nice ripe B.A.N.A.N.A.S! 3 to be exact.

2. Peel them naked.

(you might need your paw-rents help here)

HERE IS THE HARD PART…PUT THEM ON ICE AND FREEZE OVERNIGHT-NIGHT.

NITE, NITE BANANAS… see you in 24 hours!

3. Blend Bananas in

the food processor

3. Add in 1 Tablespoon of creamy peanut butter

SERVE IMMEDIATELY or place in a container and freeze for a firmer treat. I eat mine rignt away! No time like the present to give yourself a tasty treat. If you like, you can add in strawberries or blueberriess too! I like mine classic.

YUM YUM YUM

now that’s one tasty PUPCREAM

ENJOY!!!
PS
the two-leggers like this mixture too,
so make sure to finish your bowl or they may eat it!
love ya  Miss Sadie

sadieandthefairyprinceSometimes life’s struggles and complications can really get our two-legged people down and I just wanted to share the secrets we dogs know.

  1. Life is short so see the wonder in everything from a smelly old shoe to a frog in the woods…he may be a prince or the next president of the United States…you never know.
  2. Forget about it, so you didn’t get that raise or the someone accidentally stepped on your tail, in the scheme of things it isn’t worth being mad about it. Be glad…you are wealthy because of all the little things in life, now that’s something to wag your tail about.
  3. Enjoy the ride, don’t keep looking down at the bills, the dirty dishes…stick your head out the window let your tongue and ears flap in the wind…enjoy the little things because they are the important ones.

We dogs snuggle up in the corner of our two-legged people’s heart fur-ever and ever because we dare to believe beyond our reality…we believe it with all our heart.

Sadie turned 4 this month and we all celebrated and discussed how time goes so fast. She got lots of new toys, pretty bows and bandanas and even got to order her own cheese quesadilla at her favorite restaurant.

But when we got home she rushed into the living room to grab her favorite blue ball and gave everyone a chance to toss it for her. The joy and funny looks she gave us made us laugh and realize that we all need to play a little more, laugh a little longer and just slow down and enjoy. Sadie hopes everyone gets a chance to play a little more longer.

We four-legged are all superheroes of one sort or another. Just look at the reality of it… we possess extraordinary talents. My supernatural phenomena is being able to eat a treat in one mouthful. Think about the symbolic moral goal of it… I am protecting the public both two-legged and four-legged of forbidden calories.  With one whoosh of my mouth the calories are defeated and can no longer hurt others. And you guessed it my mask is that I am not really a “dog” I am a four-legged wonder called Sadie. Now go forth and save human kind by joining me in gobbling up all the treats you can find!

Until our next adventure! Stay tuned.

What a treat, today my two legged went into the kitchen and started to bake just for me!

I was the sous chef and made sure that my line cook (two-legged) was doing everything to my liking.
ingredients_1

FIRST we started with the ingredients:
2 – eggs
2 baby jars of BeechNut Apple & Pumpkin or you can use 1/2 cup of Nummy Tum-Tum Organic Pumpkin Puree
2 Tablespoons of milk
2 1/2 cups of wheat flour
(now you can substitute this if you have gluten issues with cocunut flour or almond meal or buckwheat or corn flour or meal)

Water on hand if you need to make your mixture playable yet stiff.

Then we need to MIX IT up a bit

mixitupWe started with a spoon but then my two-legger resorted to hand mixing. I offered my paws but mom said no because I just got groomed. Darn that groomer for making me too beautiful for my own good.

ROLL IT OUT and cut it up
sadiecutterWe just bought this really cute cookie cutter with my name on it from a shop on Etsy called Name That Cookie

My two-legged was so excited to try it out. I just love it when my two-legged gets excited, it makes me wag my tail (especially when it means making me cookies!)

If you don’t have a cookie cutter with your name on it you can make other shapes or smaller plain bones too.

Oh the wait is exhausting. BAKE in a pre-heated oven
at
350°F Fahrenheit (or 177°C Celsius) 20 minutes, then flip for another 20 minutes. Not all ovens are calibrated to the same so look in on your bones to make sure they do not burn.

Then let them cool.

And my favorite part… TEST them!

SADIE_BALL_BONES
WOOF, there are not many things that will make me drop the ball…
but this recipe is an exception.

INGREDIENTS

2 eggs (we use the brown shelled ones but don’t use the shells!)

1/2 cup canned organic pumpkin

2 tablespoons dry milk (great for putting protein into your dog’s diet)

1/4 teaspoon sea salt (sea salt is good for pets with pet arthritis)

2 1/2 cups brown rice flour (traditional flours don’t provide good nutrition for dogs)

1/2 teaspoon honey (optional, it is just a taste that Sadie likes and your pup might like too)

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Blend together; eggs with pumpkin and honey together
  • Add in sea salt, dry milk, and flour.
  • Add water as needed to make the dough workable be careful not to make soggy.
  • The dough should be dry and stiff. (crunchy and good for teeth brushing)
  • Mix this with your hands because it  might burn out your electric mixer’s motor.
  • Roll to 1/2-inch thick.
  • Cut into shapes, most people shape like dog bones but you can add some fun to your pup’s life by making fun shapes like hearts for valentine’s day or bat for howl-O-ween. We like this website for buying cookie cutters: TheCoookieCutterShop
  • Place 1″ to 1”1/2  apart on an un-greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 20 minutes on one side, then flip and bake another 20 minutes.

HAPPY CRUNCHING!

sadieLovesCantaloupeOn a campaign for my two legged friends to eat better I have seen some interesting foods come into the house. This morning I discovered a food group that I hope becomes a staple in this house hold.

It is called the Cantaloupe!

Oh the sweetness, oh the texture, oh my goodness.

Did you know that melons make a tasty and nutritious treat for us four-leggers. There is lots of vitamins C and B-6, plus fiber, folate (a water-soluble B vitamin), niacin (vitamin B3) and potassium.

My people looked it up on the internet and the cantaloupe is good for my eyes because it has a lot of beta-carotene. Studies have shown that beta-carotene can help prevent or reduce the growth of cataracts. But all I know it this new yummy food is a vision of dancing pleasure.

Cantaloupe is also good for us four-leggers because it is a non-allergenic, so most dogs can stomach it with no adverse reaction.

Now I love my cantaloupe naked but the two leggers like to beat it up.

If you like soup you might like the recipe they found on the Food Network by Alex Guarnaschelli, Cantaloupe Soup.

or this Cantaloupe-Veggie Smoothie

But take it from me the best cantaloupe is naked!

I have never felt anything quite like this and was the first to jump up from my puppy bed as the big booms and major shaking happened. The two leggers called for me to protect them from this crazy giant like thunder that moved the floor. They used the words we learned at the ZoomRoom… “touch” …and I came running… not because I was scared but to help calm them from the disturbance.

I have decided to put together a Sadie Disaster Advice Entry into my blog today. Here are some things to remember in times of disaster.

 1. Tag you’re it!
Identification is a MUST. We four-leggers often become frightened during natural disasters such as an earthquake so it is VERY important to have a collar and ID, a tattoo or micro ID chip so you can find your way home if you get lost.

http://www.dogids.com/

http://www.nationaldogregistry.com/tattoo.html

http://www.laanimalservices.com/general-information/microchipping/

 2. Keep Calm and Carry On.
Keeping leashes and harnesses that are easily found is important, we keep our leashes on a fun rack. I have a sturdy earthquake pet house that I can crawl into if I need to stay away from falling items so I highly recommend keeping a sturdy pet carrier around.

http://www.wag.com/buy?s=pet+carrier&PageSize=200

http://www.petco.com/shop/searchresults.aspx?Ntt=pet+crate&x=0&y=0

 3. Eat, Drink, and Be Safe.
Bottled water and plenty of food on hand is a must. You never know when you might need these items in your home and car. It is also a good idea to have a few extra chew sticks around to easy the shaken nerves and keep your mind on other things.

4. Medications.
Now I do not have any meds to take but if I did it would be important that my two-leggers had an extra stash in case of an emergency.

5. Keep Warm.
Having an extra blanket is always important especially if the electricity goes out and you need a little heat.

6. Hide and Seek
Always know your four-legger’s hiding places and have a “safe” word to coax them out. We learned the word “touch” at the ZoomRoom and I always come to that word because I know I will get a good treat.

7. First Aid Kit.
Booboos happen and it is always good to be prepared just in case.

http://www.amazon.com/Pet-First-Aid-Kit-Large/dp/B002PXEPJM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1395095215&sr=8-5&keywords=pet+emergency+kit

 8. Light it up.
Now this time we did not lose any electricity but we have a backup just incase and so should you. Camping lights do a wonderful job. And remember to keep extra batteries on hand!

http://www.amazon.com/Rayovac-SP8DA-Sportsman-Lantern-Fluorescent/dp/B00005M283/ref=sr_1_23?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1395095745&sr=1-23

Just remember that we four ledgers don’t understand what an earthquake is so it is really important to speak calmly to us and keep us involved. I was very happy to help do a walk through the house to make certain everything was OK. It calmed my nerves to have a purpose. Stay safe!

As always I am on a hunt for places that the two leggers can join us four leggers for a fine dining experience. I found another one (you can see my other posts), it is in city of Los Angeles on the well renown Sunset Strip. It is called Eveleigh. You can view their menu on line: http://www.theeveleigh.com

Image

The staff was so friendly and I quite liked kicking back with my people in this rustic hidden corner of the city. Now I brought my own menu with me but the dishes that were served to the two leggers smelled amazing and I heard them licking their lips with every bite. You can see by the images below that everything was prepared wonderfully. When my people are happy I am happy.

Image

TOP: kingsman cheese (raw cow), local almond honey, sprouted almonds, raisins, toasted sourdough
MIDDLE: eveleigh burger – selection of dry aged cuts, fontina, tomato-chorizo relish, pickles, mustard aioli, fries
BOTTOM: granola spiced lemon yoghurt sorbetI am hoping to return to this place very soon because it is a small piece of rustic relaxation right on The Sunset Strip.
